for Web Agencies

On average, 29% of local businesses in these 15 categories have at least one fixable web problem — no website, broken SSL, or a site that loads in 6+ seconds. Landscapers top the list at 51%. Roofers are at 48%.

Every list below is pulled from live Google Maps data and filtered by automated web checks. Pick an industry, pick a defect type, pick a country — and start pitching businesses that already have a reason to say yes.

Where to Start: Highest Web Defect Rates

The five niches below have the most businesses with a fixable online problem. Higher defect rate means more prospects per search — better volume for outreach.

Note: Industries with lower defect rates (lawyers at 28%, accountants at 32%) have more educated buyers and higher average project value — not a worse opportunity, just a different pitch.

Each card links to the highest-volume combination for that industry: no website, United States. Use the defect and country filters below to drill into specific segments.

How We Find These Businesses

Every entry starts as a raw Google Maps listing — business name, phone, address, and website URL (or the absence of one). We pull fresh data monthly using the Google Places API across 200+ metro areas per country.

From there, each listing runs through four automated checks: HTTP request to verify the domain resolves, SSL certificate lookup via certificate transparency logs, Google PageSpeed API for Core Web Vitals, and a mobile-friendliness check via Google's Testing Tool API. Businesses that fail one or more checks are tagged with the relevant defect and added to the corresponding list.

No manual curation — the defect rate percentages on this page reflect what the automated checks actually found across 4.2M+ listings, not estimates.

How to Use These Lists

  1. 01

    Pick a defect type

Start with "no website" if you build sites. Start with "missing SSL" or "slow sites" if you sell performance fixes. Critical defects convert faster — the business owner already feels the pain.

  2. 02

    Pick your niche

High defect rate = more volume. High average project value = plumbers, dentists, lawyers. Pick based on what your agency can actually deliver.

  3. 03

    Filter by geography

Download the list for your target city. Each row has name, phone, address, and the specific defect detected — you already know their problem before the first call.

  4. 04

    Pitch with proof

Show them a screenshot of their Google Maps listing next to a competitor who has a website. That's the entire pitch.
